Inventory Clerk

JOB SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVES

The Inventory Clerk is responsible for all activities pertaining to maintaining proper levels of customer owned material stored at and used by D&H crews for the purpose of constructing telecommunication infrastructure. The Inventory Clerk is the primary contact for issuing material to crews, requesting restocking levels from Vendors, collecting and restocking returned materials, inventory control and audits.

AUTHORITIES

Employee has authority to take whatever action he or she deems advisable or necessary, subject only to the policies or general rules laid down by his or her immediate supervisor. Supervision over this position is general in nature, relying heavily upon the competency and accountability of the employee. Employee is expected to work independently. Employee is expected to keep Management informed of progress and potential problems, apply guidelines and obtain approval for deviation from guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Maintains proper levels of inventory by establishing and adhering to guidelines for issuing materials to crews.

2. Updates digital and physical records for all inventory items issued, received, damaged, or returned to stock.

3. Conducts regular inventory counts of material to assure that records match actual supply.

4. Conducts routine truck inventory counts to validate stocking levels.

5. Orders materials from Vendor when restocking levels are met.

6. Maintains the security of items by making sure all entrances are locked and any AV equipment is functioning properly.

7. Operates forklift or other material handling equipment as needed.

8. Delivers materials to crews when necessary.

9. Performs all other duties as assigned or directed.

10. Will be subject to call-out during weather or other disaster events.

11. WILL OBSERVE ALL SAFETY RULES AND REGULATIONS AS REQUIRED. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

1. Must possess or acquire knowledge of the names, uses, and descriptions of all the material within his or her oversight.

2. Must reside at a reasonable distance from the office to handle trouble calls.

3. Must be able to regularly lift up to 75lbs.

4. Ability to learn and work with new technologies.

5. Must possess strong computer skills and ability to learn new software and computer related skills.

6. Must be able to perform basic mathematical operations and write basic formulas in Microsoft Excel.

7. Ability to rely on extensive experience, sound judgment and demonstrated leadership to plan and accomplish goals.

8. Must have proven ability to plan and organize work to meet deadlines, all with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

9. Must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated problem solving abilities. A wide degree of creativity and flexibility is expected.

10. Ability to work in confidential manner.

11. In addition to the required knowledge, the employee must have the ability to perform the duties of the position in a proper, safe, economical and workmanlike manner and be able to communicate well with others.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION

1. High school diploma or GED.

2. Must maintain a valid Driver’s License, CDL is a plus.

3. Practical experience of material management.

4. Must develop a knowledge of fiber outside plant materials and technologies.

5. Additional education/work experience may be considered in lieu of education/work experience.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

1. Ability to supervise the collection and distribution of materials to crews.

2. Ability to clearly document and report status of material levels to Managers, Supervisors, Vendors and Customers.

3. Ability to work with customers for audit of customer owned materials.

1. Must be able to perform the essential elements of the position of Inventory Clerk competently, following a training period of not to exceed two (2) months.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Work is performed both inside and outside and in all types of weather. Weather conditions can be extremely warm or cold.

2. Person in this position must be available to work outages, including irregular hours and emergency call-out.
